The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office oversees records of persons in the Salt Lake County Jails. How to Use the Salt Lake County Jail Roster

To use the Salt Lake County Jail Roster to find an inmate, users can:

  • Visit the Sheriff's Office Website, click on the corrections link, and then click on the Find a prisoner link
  • From the Find a Prisoner page, users can click on "Lookup Current Inmates," which leads to the Inmate Lookup page
  • Users of the Lookup tool can search through Option 1: First name and Last name, or Option 2: using a select identifier of either booking number, permanent number, or booking number
  • After selecting an option and filling in the form, users can click on the search button to view search results

What Information is Included in the Salt Lake County Inmate Roster

  • A summary of the charges listed in plain terms

Jail Facility Overview in Salt Lake County

The Salt Lake County Jail System includes the Metro Jail Facility, also called the Adult Detention Center, and the Oxbow Jail. The system has over 248 beds and is used to house both male and female inmates, with separate areas for female inmates. The jail housing is divided into pods accommodating approximately 80 individuals per pod in two-person cells. Juveniles are not kept within this system as they are handled by Utah's Juvenile Justice Services.

Salt Lake County Visitation Rules and Schedules

Friends and family members are allowed to visit someone at the Salt Lake City Jail System as long as they keep to specific rules. The rules guide who is allowed to visit, identification of visitors, dress code and behavior, and visit duration and visit days. The rules include:
